Fuxin Ulanmutu Mountain Scenic Area

Project Overview

The Ulanmutu Mountain Scenic Area is located within the boundaries of Bajiazi Town, in the northern part of Fumon County, about 40 kilometers from Fuxin city center. It is the highest peak in the Fuxin region, standing at an elevation of 831.4 meters. The entire mountain range stretches for dozens of miles, presenting a majestic and awe-inspiring sight. Ulanmutu Mountain boasts a rich cultural heritage, with evidence suggesting that early inhabitants lived here as early as the Hongshan Culture period. During the Liao Dynasty, it was known as "Yedun Mountain," serving as the fiefdom of the imperial clan surnamed Xiao. In the Qing Dynasty, Lamaism flourished here, transforming Ulanmutu Mountain into a vital center for religious activities in northern China. Among its most prominent structures is the Tizi Temple, which was expanded upon the foundation of an earlier Liao-era temple. Perched atop a 100-meter-high cliff, the temple can only be accessed via an impressive 18-step staircase—making it the only suspended temple of its kind in northern China.
