Haikou Hainan University of Science and Technology

Project Overview

Hainan University of Science and Technology was established in 2008, coinciding with Hainan Province's 20th anniversary and its remarkable transformation into an international tourism hub. Built on the foundation of the former Central Academy of Fine Arts Haikou Campus, the university successfully rebranded as Hainan University of Science and Technology as Hainan embarked on its ambitious journey to build a comprehensive free trade zone (port). Today, it operates across two campuses—Meilan in Haikou City and Yunlong. As of 2019, the university had 10,934 full-time students enrolled. By September 2020, this number is projected to rise to over 16,000, while by September 2021, the student population is expected to reach nearly 20,000. Additionally, the university has been granted more than 300 patents and has earned over 100 prestigious awards and honors.
