Fuxin Ulanmutu Mountain Scenic Area
The Wulangmutu Mountain Scenic Area is located within the boundaries of Bajiazi Town, in the northern part of Fumon County, approximately 40 kilometers from Fuxin city center. It stands as the highest peak in the Fuxin region, towering at an elevation of 831.4 meters. The entire mountain range stretches for dozens of miles, presenting a majestic and awe-inspiring sight. Wulangmutu Mountain boasts a rich cultural heritage, with evidence suggesting that ancient inhabitants already lived here during the Hongshan Culture period. During the Liao Dynasty, it was known as "Yedun Mountain," serving as the fiefdom of the imperial clan bearing the surname Xiao. In the Qing Dynasty, Lamaism flourished here, transforming Wulangmutu Mountain into a vital center for religious activities in northern China. Among its most prominent landmarks is the Tizi Temple, which was expanded upon the foundation of an earlier Liao-era temple. Perched precariously on a 100-meter-high cliff, this unique structure can only be accessed via an impressive staircase of 18 steps—making it the only suspended temple of its kind in northern China.
