On March 16, 2013, the Guangzhou Municipal Transportation Commission held the 2013 Guangzhou Parking Industry Management Work Conference. Leaders and responsible officials from relevant units and departments—including the Municipal Education Commission, transportation bureaus of all districts (and county-level cities), and the Guangzhou Parking Industry Association—attended the meeting. The conference reviewed the city's parking industry management efforts in 2012 and outlined key priorities for industry management in 2013.
Zhang Wei, Deputy Director of the Guangzhou Municipal Transportation Commission, fully affirmed the achievements made in the city's parking industry management work during 2012, emphasizing the critical position and role of parking industry management in urban traffic administration under the new circumstances. He also put forward specific requirements for further enhancing parking industry management in 2013.
First, the transportation bureaus of each district (and county-level city) should further implement their local management responsibilities, refine leadership assignments, designate specific personnel to take charge, strengthen management capacity, improve management systems, and continuously enhance the industry-wide management standards for parking facilities.
Second, the city's parking industry association should fully leverage its role as a key force in industry standardization, focusing on core self-regulatory tasks, further enhancing communication, coordination, and service levels, and striving to become a vital contributor to fostering the industry's healthy and sustainable development.
Third, we must prioritize and effectively implement this year’s key tasks. Specifically, we need to focus on optimizing and adjusting differentiated parking fees, promoting the application of parking industry management systems, advancing standardized management and building high-quality, standardized services within the parking sector, and accelerating the construction of P+R parking facilities in the central urban area—ensuring that these critical initiatives are successfully completed.
