Shenzhen Bao'an Coastal Cultural Park Case Study
Bao'an Coastal Cultural Park Located along the coastal belt in Bao'an Central District's coastal area—and serving as a vital component of the Greater Bay Area—this dynamic 45-kilometer-long western coastline stretches from Qianhai Cooperation Zone in the east to Dachanwan Port Area in the west. To the north, it borders Bao'an Central District’s business and office hubs, core commercial zones, and seaside plaza, covering a total land area of approximately 1.68 million square meters. In terms of development progress, Bao'an Coastal Cultural Park will be developed in three phases: Phase I includes the Central Seaside Cultural Park, the Bao'an Central District Performing Arts Center, recreational facilities, and land designated for commercial and service industries; Phase II encompasses the Coastal Wetland Park and the International Cultural Arts Center; and Phase III is set to feature the Harbor Leisure Park. In January of this year, select sections of Bao'an Xiwang Mangrove Park (Phase II) were officially opened to the public. With the groundbreaking ceremony for the Coastal Cultural Park now underway, Bao'an is poised to usher in a new chapter of tourism development in the western region. This initiative not only marks the beginning of Shenzhen’s Coastline 3.0 era but also aims to reshape the city’s tourism landscape, shifting the balance from an "east-heavy, west-light" model toward a more equitable distribution across the entire coastline.
